Not just for special occasions, hair treatments can be used on a regular basis to maintain gorgeous, healthy hair. Here at Walk In Salon, A Robert Cromeans Salon, we carry and recommend a variety of Paul Mitchell products that are specifically designed to address all your hair concerns. Will all the different products available, how do you know which one will work best for you? Today, we’ll talk about a variety of common hair concerns, and the products meant to help treat them.
Problem: Itchy, Flaky Scalp
Solution: Because dandruff is more likely to form under dry scalp conditions, it's important to keep your scalp hydrated with a soothing treatment. Tea Tree Hair and Scalp Treatment® contains soy proteins, panthenol, vitamin E and shea butter to repair and protect, while willow bark helps soothe troubled skin
Problem: Heat-Damaged Hair
Solution: If you regularly blow-dry or flat iron your hair, you need a weekly hydrating mask to replace some of the moisture that's lost from daily heat styling. Neuro™ Repair HeatCTRL® Treatment provides exceptional thermal protection and intensive repair for heat-stressed strands. In addition, it has exclusive HeatCTRL® technology to reduce the rate of heat transfer when using thermal styling tools.
Problem: Frizz
Solution: Frizz occurs when hair is dehydrated and the outermost layer (the cuticle) opens up and lets moisture from the air into it. This causes the hair to swell and creates a frizzy effect. The best way to keep hair from frizzing up is to use a styling treatment product. Awapuhi Wild Ginger® Styling Treatment Oil® fights frizz throughout the day. It contains hydrating oils and awapuhi extract to quench dry, parched hair and smooth frizz, leaving strands soft, silky and shiny.
Problem: Split Ends
Solution: The best way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off. If you're in between appointments, you can temporarily "seal" them with a leave-in treatment. Two to try: Paul Mitchell® Super Strong® Liquid Treatment, which contains a Super Strong Complex of proteins to replenish and marine extracts and vegetable proteins to replace lost minerals; or MarulaOil Rare Oil Treatment, which is formulated with powerful antioxidants and replenishing oleic acids for an 80% reduction in split ends.* Be sure to thoroughly work either treatment into the hair ends.
Now that we’ve talked about common problems and the best way to treat them, let’s talk about how and when to use these products. Firstly, how often you apply the treatment will depend upon your hair type, texture, and condition. While extremely dry or damaged hair may require more frequent treatments, most hair types respond best to once weekly applications. When applying your chosen treatment, begin the application at the ends where the hair is older and more prone to damage. Then, use a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute the product to ensure maximum benefit. After application, wrap your hair in a warm towel or apply heat to help the active ingredients to easily penetrate the hair shaft.
